Hi Mrc4 – When you removed the RAM and re-installed it, Did you make sure that each RAM Chip was put back in the same slot that it was removed from? Was the computer powered on at all during the removal/re-install process? It is possible that the RAM chips were electrostatically shorted out when you did this if you did not properly ground yourself. Do you have any other working RAM Chips that you can try with?
What kind of computer (name/model) are we talking about here?

Make sure no dust got into the RAM slots. Use a can of compressed computer cleaner air.
Make sure the RAM is inserted fully into the RAM slot.
