Where can I get a flash player like the one on YouTube for my website?

by on January 22, 2010

Q: I have a place on my website where users can upload videos to articles for the more “complicated” subjects. These are going to be a variety of formats, though most likely either MOV or wmv. When the user uploads the file, they are renamed numerically starting with 1.wmv and put into a dropdown list on the article. I ran into a problem coding it because sometimes the page asks the user to update media player to version 11. I noticed that youtube is compatible with every environment including YM, but it uses MacroMedia flash. what is the simplest way I can code the player box object? (the php-generated page automatically loads the appropriate list count and extention information).

Resize Flash Video From OneTrueMedia.com

by on November 23, 2009

Q: I am trying to resize a flash video from OneTrueMedia.com to show it on a web page but nothing I change in the following embed code does anything.

<embed src=”http://www.onetruemedia.com/share_view_player?p=2468f3400a0d8b133e9d22″ quality=”high” scale=”noscale” width=”600″ height=”526″ wmode=”transparent” name=”FLVPlayer” salign=”LT” flashvars=”&p=2468f3400a0d8b133e9d22&skin_id=601&host=http://www.onetruemedia.com” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” pluginspage=”http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer”></embed>

A: Normally you would need to change the width, height, and scale paramemters in the embed tag but in this case that does not work at all.  To resize a flash video from OneTrueMedia.com you have to modify the “flashvars” string. The specific part of the flashvars string is “skin_id=601”. You just need to change the 601 to the width you want. The height is automatically set because the video is forced to be the right scale. How do I reset the administrator password for Windows 2000 Prefessional?

by on October 9, 2009

Q: I have Windows 2000 Professional (yeah, i know…it’s old…) and Internet working pretty good but I seem to have a problem with videos on youtube and other websites. They say I either have flash off or an older version of it. I’m sure its an older version so I decided to try to install the new one. When I try my computer says I need ”administrator permission” to download it. The problem here is I don’t remember the old password and with this old computer of mine I can’t seem to change it. Does anyone know how to change the password or get flash on my comp without administrator permission?
