How can I print my Generic Cadd drawings using my Lexmark USB printer?

by on November 2, 2011

Q: Hardware and Software that I have relative to my question:

Computer:
Acer (acer-6e395d0925), Celeron(R) D CPU 3.20GHz,
3.20 GHz, 0.99 GB RAM
Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) D CPU 3.20GHz,
x86 Family 15 Model 6 Stepping 4
Processor Count: 1
RAM: 1014 Mb
Graphics Card: Intel(R) 946GZ Express Chipset Family, 224 Mb
Hard Drives: C: Total – 63350 MB, Free – 14510 MB; D: Total – 10179 MB, Free – 1680 MB;
Motherboard: Acer, E946GZ

Operating System:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Version 2002, Service Pack 3, 32 bit
76487-OEM-0011903-00100

Printer:
Lexmark Pro 905 AIO Platinum Color Multifunction Printer

MS-DOS-based software:
Generic Cadd 6.1 by Autodesk (bought out by Autodesk) but no longer supported.

I would like to be able to print my Generic Cadd drawings using my Lexmark USB printer.
There are programs on the market such as Printfil. DOSPRN 1.79, and DOSPrint, that supposedly can redirect your DOS files to a USB printer, however, I have tried these but since they are character based the only thing that I have been able to print are alpha and numeric characters, but not my drawings.
Is there a way that I can print my Generic Cadd drawings to my Lexmark printer?
Generic Cadd prints to various printers on LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, or Com1 or Com 2, but in order to do so it sends the full gamut of printer control codes to the selected printer that controls functions such as line spacing, page length, color, etc. Would there be a way to send printer control codes to my USB printer via the programs such as Printfil, DOSPRN, etc. that would enable my printer to print the drawings? If so how would I get the printer control codes for my Lexmark printer?

Best regards and thank you,
Peohguy

Fix printer is not spooling

by on July 1, 2009

Q: My Lexmark E234 printer has stopped working. I get an error that says the printer is not spooling. I uninstalled the printer and tried to reinstall but it still does not work. My printer is approximately 1.5 years old. Do I need to update the driver or just get a new printer?

A: The first thing you should do is download and install the latest driver for your Lexmark E234 printer. If this does not fix your problem then there is a great entry over at the Microsoft Knowledge Base where they have a utility to fix the printer is not spooling error.
