Why am I having problems viewing photos I downloaded from my camera?

by on November 11, 2010

Q: I am having trouble viewing the photos I downloaded from my camera to my PC. All the thumbnails-photos used to be the actual photo I took, but now they’ve all turned into the same icon, thumbnail after thumbnail. How do I get my original photos to re-appear as thumbnails?

How can I digitalize all the photos in a photo album?

by on July 29, 2010

Q: I have thousands of photographs (various sizes) in photo albums that I want to transfer into my computer without having to scan each one in separately. I can’t seem to find a wand/hand scanner with more than 600dpi…and for decent resolution I’ve heard 700dpi is the minimum requirement. Any suggestions?

What is the best software to recover deleted photos?

by on June 30, 2010

Q: I have a Panasonic DMC-TZ5 camera with a 4GB SD card. There are some photos on this camera which were deleted almost 2 years ago which I really could do with getting my hands on. I have run several demo versions of retrieval software and each returns approx 300 files after scanning 20% of disc then no more. The interesting thing is the files recovered vary in date deleted from late 2008 (before the photos I need were deleted), early 2009 (around the same time as the ones I’m looking for) and more recent. Is there any chance my photos are still retrievable with better software? I don’t care how much I have to pay.

How can I buy Instant Photo Scanner?

by on June 1, 2010

Q: I used a program called “Instant Photo Scanner” (a great little program) the last few weeks and now the trial period has lapsed. I would love to pay to activate the full version but have not been able to. Seems maybe the company (Data Becker) has sold the rights. Do you know how I can get an activation code?

Detecting photo plagiarism?

by on February 9, 2010

Q: Is there any way to upload a photo into the web and search for it? Example: I want to take a photo off Facebook that I’m pretty sure is a fake profile and run it through Google or something to see if this person stole a photo from someone.

View thumbnails in a folder instead of icons

by on January 25, 2010

Q: I put some photos on my PC in my pictures folder but when I open the folder to view them I see rows of icons instead of rows of pictures. How can I make it so that I see thumbnails of the pictures instead of icons representing the files?

A: To solve this problem you need to Start -> Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View¬† and then uncheck “Always show icons, never thumbnails”. This will make it so that when you go into folders you see the thumbnail pictures instead of the icons representing the pictures. Read the rest of this entry »

Will uninstalling Canon Zoom Browser remove my photos?

by on January 23, 2010

Q: I currently have 3 photo software programs on my Windows XP computer. I would like to uninstall one which goes with a camera I never use anymore.

I can see the same pictures cataloged in all three programs. If I uninstall Canon Zoom Browser EX will I lose all the pictures that I transferred in with my Nikon Picture Project software. I am assuming that since I used the Nikon software for all the pictures under the “picture project” folder that I will not lose them even though I can see them in the directory when I go into the canon software.

I need space on my hard drive so I would really like to get rid of this extra software. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.

Microsoft Digital Image Library and Pro

by on June 26, 2009

Q: I have MS digital image library 9 and MS digital image Pro 9. Are both needed? I’m trying to give myself more storage.

A: It is difficult to get information about Microsoft Digital Image products because support for them has been discontinued since January 13, 2009. Given that information, it is my understanding that the Library and the Pro product work together to give you the user experience you get. So removing the library part of the product might actually hurt your user experience. Read the rest of this entry »

How come myspace auto rejects acceptable photos I upload?

by on May 10, 2009

Q: How can I bypass myspace’s system that detects a photo that supposedly violates their policies? Some of my photos are automatically rejected when attempting to upload them onto my page, but there’s nothing about them that should cause them to be rejected.
