How do we disable shortcuts or hotkeys for muting a computers speakers?

by on December 3, 2012

Q: My bosses computer must have some hotkeys / shortcuts set to mute her speakers. Whenever she capitalizes certain letters or types certain things like Shift+F and “Short”, the music turns off.

We can’t figure out how to fix it so there are no shortcuts that can mute her speakers.

I look forward to your solution. Thanks!

Is there anyway to make my web shortcuts show the website icon instead of the FireFox icon when using Windows 7?

by on August 9, 2011

Q: Once upon a time I had shortcut icons from various sites (e.g. LinkedIn, Facebook, etc) that depicted the actual site logo. I recently switched to Windows 7 and now all I get is generic Firefox shortcuts. Call me silly but I like the looks of the real icons. Is there some way I can have them back?

by on November 13, 2008

Q: I have finally upgraded from an Apple mighty mouse to a Logitech MX Revolution. The new mouse has thumb buttons for backwards and forwards and I want to use them to switch between tabs in applications like FireFox, Safari, Terminal, and Adium. My problem is they all seem to use different sequences to switch between tabs, is there anything I can do about this?

A: There are actually some key sequences that each of those applications share for switching between tabs. The problem is most people, using those applications, get used to one of the sequences that use the arrow keys and the applications do not share the same sequences when it comes to the arrow keys. The sequences they do share actually revolve around the brackets or more specifically the curly brackets. Read the rest of this entry »
